Basque Worlds in Paris
In partnership with the Maison Basque in Paris and the 17th arrondissement's town-hall, the Basque Cultural Institute will install the "Batekmila - Basque Worlds" travelling multimedia exhibition in Paris from 16 July to 20 August 2010.

Since it was inaugurated in 2007 the "Batekmila - Basque Worlds" exhibition has been presented 13 times, namely in Bayonne, San Sebastian, Bilbao, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Pamplona, Bordeaux, Albi and in March 2010, in Barcelona. Everywhere it has travelled the exhibition has aroused the interest of the public and especially the young, sensitive to its interactive and fun approach.

Batekmila will be presented in Paris at the 17th arrondissement's town-hall from 16 July to 20 August 2010, from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm (7pm on Thursdays). Entry to the exhibition is free of charge.

A programme of events has been created for the occasion (see programme in PDF format).

  • 16 July: concert by the ''Anaiki'' choir
  • 18 July: Batignolles market entertainment with Basque song and music by the "Biper Neskak" female group
  • 23 July: Basque dancing with Patxi Perez and his group "Patxi eta Konpainia"
  • 27 & 28 July: Basque stories with children from the local leisure centre.
  • 6 August: conference by Pantxoa Etchegoin, director of the Basque Cultural Institute on Basque song.
  • 18 August: concert by Maddi Oihenart accompanied by the musician Jérémy Garat.

Don't worry if you're unable to get to Paris this summer: all the exhibition's audiovisual content is available online in five languages (French, Basque, Spanish, English, Catalan) on the www.batekmila.net website. A way of reaching out to an even wider audience and giving those who have already visited the exhibition the opportunity to consult their favourite content again.
